Use the AI campaign composer
Describe your goal, pick a tone, and let the AI generate a complete email — subject line, preview text, and full HTML body — ready to edit and send.
What the AI composer does
The AI campaign composer takes a plain-English description of your email goal and generates a complete, ready-to-send campaign. It writes the subject line, preview text, and a structured HTML email body — including a call to action, appropriate layout, and copy tuned to your requested tone.
This is useful when you need to produce a campaign quickly, want a first draft to refine, or are writing emails in a language that is not your own. The composer does not send the email — it just populates the campaign builder, which you can edit before sending.
The AI is included in all Mally plans at no extra cost. It is powered by a large language model via Mally's backend — you do not need an OpenAI or Anthropic account of your own.
Entering goal, tone, and audience
The composer has three inputs:
- Goal
A one-to-three sentence description of what the email should achieve. Be specific. Instead of "send a newsletter", try "announce our summer sale — 30% off everything, ends Sunday, we want people to click through to the sale page". The more context you give, the better the output.
- Tone
Choose from: Professional, Friendly, Urgent, Casual, Inspirational, or Playful. This controls the vocabulary, sentence structure, and overall feel of the generated copy.
- Audience
A brief description of who will receive this email — e.g. "existing customers who purchased in the last 90 days" or "new subscribers who haven't bought yet". This shapes the level of familiarity and the assumed product knowledge in the copy.
Click Generate. The AI typically responds in 5–15 seconds. You will see a loading indicator while it generates.
What the AI generates
The composer returns:
- Subject line: A single subject line optimised for the goal and tone you specified. If you want alternatives, click "Regenerate" or use the subject line scorer to grade it and request variations.
- Preview text: 60–90 characters of preview text designed to complement the subject line and improve open rates.
- HTML body: A complete, mobile-responsive HTML email with headline, body copy, call-to-action button, and footer. The CTA button URL is left as a placeholder for you to fill in.
Click Use this email to load the generated content into the campaign builder. From there, edit it as you would any campaign — swap out images, change the CTA URL, adjust copy, or reorder sections.
Supported content types
The AI composer works well for these common email types:
- Promotional: Sales, discounts, limited-time offers. Provide the discount percentage, product name, and deadline in your goal.
- Newsletter: Content roundups, tips, updates. Describe the 2–3 topics you want to cover in your goal.
- Announcement: New product, feature launch, event. Include the key details — what, when, why it matters — in your goal.
- Re-engagement: Win-back emails for inactive subscribers. Specify how long they have been inactive and what you are offering.
- Plain text style: For a conversational, personal-looking email (no images, minimal formatting), set tone to "Casual" or "Friendly" and mention "plain text style" in your goal.
Translate feature
Any email in the builder — whether AI-generated or manually written — can be translated into 12 languages. Click the Translate button in the editor toolbar and select a target language.
Supported languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Hindi, Swahili, Russian, and Italian.
Translation preserves all HTML tags and Mally personalisation tokens (like {{first_name}}) — they are not translated, just passed through unchanged.
Review translations before sending
Machine translation is excellent for drafts and general content, but we recommend having a native speaker review translated campaigns before sending to a subscriber list. Marketing copy in particular benefits from a human pass for idioms, brand voice, and cultural nuances.
